It was early September, 2005. Katrina had just devastated our small city of Kenner, LA. We were practically working 24/7 clearing debris, performing grid searches, and battling numerous blazes. There was no electricity or running water so we had to wear the same uniforms for days. We had not seen anyone from the outside with resources and we felt we were on our own. Finally, some resources started flowing in including uniforms. The IAFF set up camp in Baton Rouge, LA and several of us made the trip there for booster shots, food, and uniforms. While digging through the uniforms, I found some brand new Elbeco pants and shirts. The comfort, fit, and quality were unmatched with any previous uniform I had ever purchased. Upon returning to the devastation, I hand washed only the Elbeco uniforms and never touched the others throughout the ordeal. As a matter of fact, I continue to wear them today.
