Jessie Hutchinson was laid to rest in November 2007, a victim of a single vehicle accident. The accident ended a life long dream. As a small boy, his grandfather included him on trips to Alexis Fire Equipment to watch fire trucks being manufactured. Being around the station with grandpa was one of his greatest joys, and he always said that some day he too would join the department and help build the trucks he saw at Alexis. After turning of age he indeed fulfilled his dream. He was hired by Alexis Fire Equipment, and became a probationary firefighter with the department. He had his dream until that one fateful night. I learned all of this the night of his visitation, as I was standing at attention at the head of his casket. All of the Honor Guard members were there dressed in our Class A uniforms, paying tribute to another fallen comrade.
